Why CCUS, Norway – Belgium/Wallonia?

Carbon capture, utilisation and storage is an important part of the industrial decarbonisation toolbox, especially for sectors where emissions are difficult to avoid. Norway has developed a strong ecosystem around CO₂ capture, transport, storage, industrial pilots and offshore infrastructure, notably through the Northern Lights project, while Wallonia and Belgium bring complementary industrial challenges and expertise in hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, lime, cement and chemicals. With Walloon initiatives and actors working on CCUS and industrial decarbonisation, the session will explore how these complementary strengths can support practical cooperation across the CCUS value chain, connect and open the door to new partnerships between Belgian/Walloon and Norwegian actors working across the CCUS value chain.
